What’sHerName women’s history podcast is hosted and produced by academic sisters Dr. Katie Nelson and Olivia Meikle. What’sHerName puts the women back into World History, telling the stories of fascinating women you’ve never heard of (but should have). We interview expert historians, writers, and scholars, and weave a vivid story. Raised by musicians, we’re compelled to add a musical element, too, adding era-appropriate music to bring each tale to life.
The result is fascinating and funny, thought-provoking and academically sound– without jargon, snobbery, or boringness.
Our intern is Catie Boucher.

Katie Nelson has a PhD in History from the University of Warwick and taught a wide range of courses in World, European, and American History at Weber State University for 15 years. (Her favorite course, she still teaches for the Honors Program: The Meaning of Life.) Migrating more and more out of the classroom, Katie now primarily writes books, and leads What’sHerName listeners on history travel adventures every few months. You can usually find her in the garden of her little Victorian cottage, in a wild west railroad town, with her family and their Zen master, a rescue schnauzer.
Olivia Meikle teaches Women’s & Gender Studies at Naropa University. With Katie, she’s the coauthor of The Book of Sisters, plus A Stinky History of Toilets and A History of the World in 80 Lost Women. She’s also the creator of Around the World in 80 Diapers, a website empowering parents to travel internationally with their kids. She has an MA in English Literature and Women’s & Gender Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
